Professor Offornze D. Amucheazi SAN is the current commissioner of Lands, Anambra state of Nigeria. He is an esteemed Professor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, boasting a distinguished career that spans over three decades in both legal practice and academia. As a Founding Partner in the reputable law firm of Amucheazi, Ozioko and Company, which maintains offices in Abuja and Enugu, Professor Amucheazi has been instrumental in shaping legal discourse and practice.
With a rich educational background, Professor Amucheazi has imparted his vast knowledge at two prestigious institutions: the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. His commitment to excellence is underscored by his numerous professional affiliations, including being a Fellow of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCArb), the Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators (FICIARB), and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (FICMC).
Professor Amucheazi’s expertise extends beyond the academic realm. He holds certificates in ‘Strategic Leadership Management’ from Oxford University and ‘Constitution Building in Africa’ from the Central European University Budapest. Notably, he has served as a World Bank Consultant, providing invaluable insights into regulatory compliance and the impacts of governmental policies on existing World Bank projects in Nigeria.

Distinguished for his contributions to alternative dispute resolution, Professor Amucheazi is a member of the Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA) and actively participates in various editorial boards, including the LCA Dispute Resolution Journal, the ICIARB International Journal of Construction Arbitration, and the ICMC’s Nigerian Journal of Mediation and Conciliation (NJMC).
In governmental roles, he served as a Consultant/Special Assistant to a Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, contributing significantly to the establishment of the Africa Finance Corporation. Additionally, his pivotal role as the pioneer Legal Adviser at the National Institute for Legislative Studies (NILS) showcases his dedication to legal scholarship and legislative development.
Between 2012 and 2019, Professor Amucheazi served as the Lead Consultant to the Senate Committee of the National Assembly, overseeing the comprehensive review of the 1999 Constitution. His extensive legal experience spans labor law, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practice, constitutional law, and renewables.
Professor Amucheazi’s scholarly contributions are evident in his numerous publications, including scholarly articles on labor law, arbitration, and constitutional law. He has authored and co-authored several influential books, such as “Thematic Issues in Nigerian Arbitration Law and Practice,” “The National Industrial Court of Nigeria: Law, Practice and Procedure,” and “Constitutional Review in an Emerging Democracy: The Nigerian Experience.”
