The Legal Unit within the Ministry of Lands holds a pivotal role as an indispensable department integral to the overall functioning of the ministry. Some of the functions of the Legal unit includes:
To vet, scrutinize, draft and execute legal documents, memorandum, letters, agreements, files, notices etc.
To offer legal advice and directives on knotty legal issues bedeviling the ministry or where such circumstances arise and legal opinion is needed on the way forward.
To represent the Ministry in various litigations pending before the various hierarchies of our courts.
To arbitrate and give legal advice and directives on conflict resolutions in land matters concerning various parties and the Ministry of Lands.
To coordinate and liaise with other Government agencies & interested parties especially the Ministry of Justice in getting needed facts, documents, & witnesses to represent Government cases in courts and other affairs.
To generally offer legal services on all legal issues pertaining to the Ministry of lands.
