ANAMBRA LANDS COMMISSIONER, PROF AMUCHEAZI RE-STATES GOVERNOR SOLUDO'S COMMITMENT TO HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

The Commissioner for Lands in Anambra State, Prof. Offornze Amucheazi (SAN) has re-stated the commitment of the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, to human capital development in State.

The Commissioner stated this at the 2nd Ife Awkuzu Development Summit held at Awkuzu Civic Centre, Eke Ata Awkuzu, and organized by Ife Awkuzu Development Association with the theme: Human Capital Development: Bedrock for Community Development.

Prof Amucheazi who was the leader paper presenter at the event explained that the government of Governor Soludo has since inception initiated and implemented several policies and programmes aimed at nurturing and improving the education, skills as well as health of the people of the State which are key indices of human capital development.

According to the Commissioner, Governor Soludo has declared tuition-free education and free ante-natal services for pregnant women , the apprenticeship /Igba boi system, the akuluo-uno message as well as the one youth two skills programme of the state government including improved security architecture for the overall benefits of the people of the state as his testament and commitment to human capital development.

He also stated that the State, under the leadership of Prof Soludo, has employed 5,000 teachers and is in the process of employing another 3000 teacher as well as employed over 300 medical personnel and is recruiting more.  He further disclosed that Governor Soludo through The Solution Innovation District has since trained about 20000 youths on ICT skills .

He noted that human capital development which is at the heart of Soludo’s administration’s vision for a liveable and prosperous homeland cannot be actualized by the state government alone as town unions, private and community-based organizations have critical roles to play.

Prof Amucheazi particularly called on town unions and community leaders to sensitize the youths on the evils of land racketeering, which discourages investors and stagnate development, leading to high rate of youth unemployment in the society.

The event had in attendance Mr Valentine Ozigbo among other dignitaries and came to a climax with presentation of award of excellent achievements to deserving members of the society with Prof Offornze Amucheazi as one of the award recipients.
